TOPOLOGY META_MORPHOSIS
Hosted at GRND House, Paddington, Meta_Morphosis will feature a rich program of performances, talks, and interviews, all designed to deepen our understanding of form, structure, and the interconnections between the diverse realms of politics, identity, environment, and space.
FRIDAY December 13th: 6pm – 10pm
This evening of ambient performances will showcase music from Jessica Roch – Her live performances are explorations of sound, combining experimental touches with ambient textures and dynamic improvisation. Through intricate loops and layers, she builds evolving soundscapes from noise, breath, vocals, violin, synth, and electronics. Softshadow will share 20 minutes of improvised material will fold and unfold, in told and untold topologies. Divided into two sections, each with a featured poem on the ever-changing nature of identity and relationships, soundscape and free improvisation combine into sonic shapes and forms. ambertone_ (Ieva Vaiti) will showcase an intimate set of violin textures and soundscapes, responding to the space and artworks within the exhibition.
7pm – ambertone (Ieva) – ambient violin improvisations – responding to space
7:30pm – Subphonics
8:15pm – Softshadow
8:40pm – Jessica Roch
SATURDAY December 14th – 11pm – 9pm
Evening exploring the metamorphosis of threadsafe’s topology exhibit
11:00 – 12:30
Day 2: Algorithmic walk
This activity is an expansion of the project “Descending the Gradient”, which transforms an algorithm for data optimization into instructions for walking. In this exercise, we will follow the steps of the algorithm, as we descent the hills of Hampstead Heath. We will use a custom software to trace our movements and add them to a database of descents. After the walk we will openly discuss how software scripts and traces movement in space, how we engage with everyday mapping technologies, and how these shape the way we relate to a place. Time 11.00 – 12.30 Meet at Parliament Hill viewpoint at 11.00am FULL INFORMATION WILL BE SENT TO PARTICIPANTS VIA EMAIL
17:00 – 18:30
Day 2: Panel Talk w/ Ingrid (& loop delirium), Jamie Shilvock, _threadsafe (lecture space)
We celebrate this moment in time where three Computational Artist collectives are currently exhibiting in London Hypha galleries, with a panel talk together with Ingrid, Loop-Delirium and threadsafe. This is then followed by a talk by Jamie Shilvock, who will discuss his research project Ludus: Redux, a two-channel video installation, builds upon the work of filmmakers such as Harun Farocki and Hito Steyerl. It explores why humans play and how the advancements in technology of the last 100 years have led to a simulation of play. These concepts of simulation and play are explored further by looking into how Western militaries use esports and video games as a recruitment strategy and use modern gaming engines to simulate and assist warfare.

Day 2: Immersive Listening & Performances
Listen to the biophony of an environment with Alyssa Martens – who will take you through her project Lungs of the Earth. Laura Selby will showcase a selection of works exploring the hidden resonances of more-than-human worlds (timespecies) from moss to mycelium, soil, dust and microbes, celebrating our interconnected micro-worlds. Subsignal will present Sunspeak Meta_Morphosis – an improvised participatory performance. A sonic world building experiment in which an adventurous crew of solarpunk recruits will navigate the exhibition space and improvise a live score using a set of salvaged communication artefacts. And Irini Kalaitzidi will showcase her project ‘Occupied with Traffic’ – a performance centred on the repetitive act of riding a bike. It invites the audience to become annotators, equipped with machinic eyes, to label and classify this seemingly simple action.
6:30pm Alyssa Lungs of the Earth listening experience (main space – 30mins)
7:10pm – Laura S Performance (main space – 30mins)
8:00pm – Thomas (45mins)
9pm – Irini (Main space (20mins)
