Topologia: Muralhas e Memória
“Topologia: Muralhas e Memória” is an artistic investigation exploring Algarve’s architectural heritage through crayon rubbing. Threadsafe collective is organising a co-created community project seeking a collective civic memory of the ancient Muralhas de Faro, Portugal.
From 23 to 27 August 2026, _threadsafe invited residents and visitors of Faro to co-create a wax crayon rubbing run from the Arco do Repouso to the Mirador Ria Formosa. This technique is a highly accessible method for markmaking and this impression provided a low-tech scan of the wall giving a tactile experience to the participants.
With this project, threadsafe’s aim is to extract a new layer of the 9th-century walls of Faro; from static borders into porous, living interfaces of collective memory.
This project took part thanks to our volunteers and partners:
Financial support: Creative Scotland
Facilitating partners: Município de Faro, CIAC (Centro de Investigacao), Associação 289 and with the support from Alberto Rocha – Cerâmica Artesanal.
