Sofia Taipa

Sofia Taipa is a multidisciplinary artist, creative technologist and maker working between Lisbon and London. With a dual background in Fine-Arts and Computer Science, Sofia’s work explores and questions the role of technology in contemporary art, as well as its intersection with materiality. Through sculpture and installation, she probes the phenomenology of the body, sound, light, and space as tangible entities. Her practice is driven by a curiosity on the nature of perception and the ways in which identity is formed and experienced. Sofia’s current practice-based research investigates themes of collective identity, the process of individuation, and the sensory experience, seeking to uncover how these concepts manifest in both the physical and digital domains.
